Five more videos
I’ve just uploaded another five videos to the Flicks front pages. Today’s uploads include “Are You Cool Enough for Firefox”, “Get the Fox”, “Burned”, “Old Explorer”, and “Pop-up Proposal” — all great ads.

It’s a shame that so many of the ads mention things like “use Firefox to stop popups”. I use Firefox and still get some popups. I use IE and get a few, but there is nothing to choose between the browsers from that point of view. The same with viruses. Before the viewing the flicks, Firefox told me it had downloaded an important update and invited me to install it straight away. Presumably this was to fix a vulnerability. Not much difference there from IE either.

When will the winners be announced? Do the judges watch all 250+ ads submitted or just the ones that are online or recieve high ratings?

They will be announced on or around the 25th of April. And I would assume they watch all 250 and judge then.

I like some of the ads. But it’s really ironic that I’m having better luck loading the videos in Opera than in Firefox.

hi, i just would like to make a suggestion. Can you provide an RSS for new submissions? It’s getting more and more flicks being uploaded, therefore it would be great if the RSS items are sorted according to date of submissions. What do u think?

@one-d – But there already is. Go to the “View Flicks” page, and in the first bar is the little orange RSS icon. Here is the direct link: http://www.firefoxflicks.com/rss/

@Klim – Yes, I use that feed also. But it is sorted the wrong way. :) New submission appear on the bottom of the list, instead of on top (using Sage in Firefox :P). It should be sorted the other way around, and I think that’s what one-d means.

@Chris – I use that too. That’s what I’m talking about.

i recently kicked the feed out of netvibes, because of that senseless sorting.
PLEASE REVERSE THE FEED SORTING!
and provide us with a “next video” button

I have to sadly agree. I’m not why, I think it’s because I have the ‘MediaPlayerConnectivity’ plugin installed, but while watching the ads its quite fast loading but hangs in the middle and I have to wait for 10 seconds before it starts again, that too playing very “hangily.”
Had no problems with Opera when doing this.

I’m trying to view this with Firefox 1.5.0.1 on Linux and i’m getting plugin problems.
Quicktime doesn’t support linux. (and has buggy support for firefox/win as well)
Why don’t you use open standards for a site like this?

Well, I checked out the new ads… Okay, Old Explorer was pretty nice, but all the others were just blah. Oh, and um… why not keep on topic here, and discuss the ads themselves, not what features should be used in the ads…

Re: FlickFeeds – Yeah, I agree about that part. The order doesn’t make sense.
But here’s a fix for us all. I’ve run the feed through FeedBlendr and now it work as it should. Subscribe here:
http://feedblendr.com/subscribe/2530
Feedblendr.com allows feed merging without registrations.
I’d have blended this blog’s feed with it, but for some reason FBlendr doesn’t understand it.
Anyhow, hope it helps. Enjoy!

Not sure if this is the right place but would it be possible to make the grayed out voting stars a bit brighter, to make them stand out from the actual red stars more? I’m not sure if it’s me being color blind or the high resolution of my screen making the stars look tiny, but the gray and red stars look very similar.

Do you think eventually all the submissions will be available to view?

Where did Joy Ride go? There were 18 earlier today, now only 17…
