Final weeks

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

As we’ve come into the final weeks of the contest, interest in the Firefox Flicks is growing at a dramatic clip. As one measure of that interest, we’ve seen more emails to the ad-support list in the last ten days than in the entire previous month.

From a lot of the feedback we’re getting, it sounds like our outreach to potential contestants has just now started to pay dividends. With this late surge in interest, we’ve decided to extend the submission deadline by two weeks to afford a bit more time to some of the people just now getting started. The new closing date for the contest will be April 14, one month from today.

We haven’t been through all of the submissions we’ve received so far to see if they meet the contest criteria and we’ve only received full-sized media from a handful of those entrants but we’re definitely starting to see the entries come in, averaging 2 to 3 per day now.

We’re hard at work getting set up to be able to start sharing the submissions with you all so stay tuned to the Backstage blog for updates.

Oh, and if you’ve already uploaded your video and not sent us the full sized media, hard copy on CD or DVD, please do so as soon as you can. The address to mail us is:

Guest Post from BapuKon Productions: Flicks Contest

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

Konstantine and I, founders of BapuKon Productions, are delighted with the opportunity to channel our creative talents to create an ad for the Firefox Flicks contest.

We are ecstatic about entering film and commercial competitions. In fact, we recently submitted an ad to the Converse Gallery for the chance of being awarded a spot on the air.

You can view our film here. The ad is self-explanatory, but we want to clarify that the last few seconds of it is black because Converse will add their personal logo in that space, should the commercial be aired.

As for the Firefox Flicks contest, we want to wish good luck to everyone who enters!

Guest Post from New York Festivals: Advertising Competition Short-list

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

Hello from New York City!

All of us here at New York Festivals are proud to be friends of the Firefox Flicks contest, and we can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

One of the many reasons we can’t wait to see the winning entry is that it will automatically qualify as a Shortlist finalist in our 2006 New York Festivals of Advertising competition – meaning it goes to the front of the line, ahead of the thousands of other entries received, to join entries that have made it past the first round. It will then be judged by an international panel of advertising and creative professionals to vie for a Gold, Silver or Bronze World Medal against work from the top agencies in the world. As a Shortlist member, the work is automatically a permanent member of our website showcase, which is a source of inspiration for top creative directors. If it gets a medal, it’s included in the extravaganza at the end of September.

Good luck everyone, and Think Big!
