Firefox Flicks Participation Update Request
In our ongoing efforts to promote the Firefox Flicks Ad Contest and to engage our community of participants with opportunities to share their work and to win early prizes, we’re reaching out and asking for updates from all of our current participants.
We’re very much interested in hearing from you about the progress of your entry and we’d also like to extend an opportunity to share your Firefox Flicks experience with our community here at the Firefox Flicks Backstage Blog.
Participants who are willing to share some “behind the scenes” photos or commentary with our Flicks audience will be eligible for some great prizes including Firefox swag packs from the Mozilla Store, (we’ve got T-shirts, backpacks, stickers, baseball caps, sweatshirts, books and more,) as well as gift packs from some of our Friends of Firefox Flicks.
If you aren’t interested in the added exposure of a production profile or behind the scenes post at the Backstage Blog, we’re still interested in hearing from you about your experience producing a Firefox Flicks 30 second ad so please let us know what you’re working on, what format you’re using, and how it’s going with an email to ad-support@mozilla.com.
And don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions about the contest, either here in the comments or in an email.

Hello!
Under the FAQ section is mentioned, that the winner is responsible
for all taxes on the prize. Well, how big can be these taxes?
Do you deliver the prize to the winner? Will the winner have to pay for
the shipping?
Thank you for the answers!
Greetings from Slovenia,

Taxes for prizes typically, unless Mozilla is registered in a state with strange laws, are based on your local government’s taxation schedule. So you would likely want to contact whatever tax agency enforces income or prize taxes in Slovenia and ask them,
For example, my own students working as Hilbert College produced a video for the contest. If they won, the Hilbert College would be liable for New York State taxes (and since we are a non-profit organization we would submit a tax-exempt form and be done with it). If I personally won instead of the student group I would have to pay New York State income tax plus U.S. Federal income tax on my winnings.

Everyone who enters a contest such as this should be prepared to pay taxes on the hard goods they get. This is not a big deal — after all, you might pay $500 on $5000 prizes depending on your tax bracket, but if you are a smart filmmaker never jip Uncle Sugar of their dollar.
Since most free-lancers and professionals deal with tax issues, it is also good training for people who are just learning the trade.

Steve, thank you for the comment here.
Yes, Steve is correct. You will want to check with your local tax agency.

OK, thanks for your help!
Will there be also any acknowledgements for the participants? That would be very cool.
